MLM POSITIVITY SPACE

hello peeps. my name's vincent. im a trans gay man and i go by he/him. ive come to notice that lately many individuals are invalidating gays/lesbians who don't use he/him or she/her pronouns, respectively, and i'm here to clear a few misunderstandings.

>

WHAT IS A SHE/HER GAY PERSON?

the concept is actually very, very simple to grasp. a she/her gay person is an individual who uses she/her pronouns because they feel more comfortable doing so. now remember, pronouns DO NOT equal gender. pronouns are a part of gender expression not gender identity.

>

WHAT IS A THEY/THEM GAY PERSON?

they/them gays are men-alligned (or non-alligned) folks who use they/them pronouns because they either 1) feel disconnected from their manhood 2) are non-binary 3) simply for the reason that using t/t pronouns make them feel more comfortable and at ease. respecting a person's pronouns should be a natural thing, so please do respect theirs.

>

WHY DO THEY CHOOSE TO GO BY PRONOUNS OTHER THAN HE/HIM?

because gender expression differs from one person to another. everyone expresses gender differently and giving one the space to explore who they are and express themselves freely is important.

DOESNT THAT PRACTICALLY MEAN THEYRE NOT GAY MEN?

no, susan it doesnt. s/h and t/t gays are as valid as h/h gays. besides, referring to them as men can be offensive to them so please refrain from doing so. gender falls on a wide spectrum, so avoid making assumptions.

>

I'VE HEARD ABOUT BI/PAN LESBIANS SO DOES THAT MEAN BI/PAN GAYS ARE VALID?

believe it or not ive been asked that countless of times, so let's start off by clearing up one of the biggest misunderstandings. bi/pan lesbians are not real and neither are bi/pan gays. you can be bi/pan with a male lean but that does NOT make you a gay man. i do realize gay is an umbrella term and many bisexuals and pansexuals refer to themselves as gay but that does not make bi/pan gays valid. you can call yourself gay and joke about it all you want, no one will hold you accountable, but why create a label that does not only harm gays/lesbains but also bi/pan folks?
